Archbishop Hosam Naoum participates in the celebration of moving some of St. Chad’s Relics to the Lichfield Cathedral in the United Kingdom.

Archbishop Hosam Naoum, the Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, participated in the celebration of moving some of St. Chad’s Relics to the Lichfield Anglican Cathedral on Tuesday November 8th, 2022. At the beginning of the celebration, the Archbishops, Bishops, Priests, and the Chapter of the Cathedral gathered at St. Chad’s Spring in Lichfield to symbolise the waters of Baptism and the beginning of St. Chad’s ministry, where they said the opening prayers. After that they all processed towards the Cathedral where another set of prayers were said in front of St. Chad’s statue which welcomes pilgrims as they walk into the Cathedral. Then the procession went into the Cathedral, were they were met by a congregation gathered from different parts of England, and held an Ecumenical, Anglican and Catholic, Evening Prayer. Bishop Bernard Longley, the Catholic Archbishop of Birmingham, Bishop Michael Ipgrave, the Anglican Bishop of Lichfield, Bishop Hosam Naoum, the Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, Dean Adrian Dorber, the Dean of the Cathedral, and other Bishops and priests from both churches participated in the service. The service was also attended by representatives from the Orthodox Church. The Evening Prayer was to celebrate the arrival of some of the Relics of St. Chad which were previously kept at the Catholic Cathedral in Birmingham. The Relics were placed under the Altar that was dedicated the previous day. During the Service, Bishop Naoum led the Prayers of the People. At the end of the Service, Bishop Naoum, Mrs. Rafa Qafiti Naoum, his wife, Rev’d Canon Don Binder, his chaplain, and the rest of the congregation visited St. Chad’s new Shrine venerating the Relics and praising God.
