The Diocesan Synod for the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem continued its sessions held in Amman for its meetings in 2022, which is The First Synod in person under the leadership of Bishop Hosam Naoum, the Chair of the Synod , with a new and revised schedule.
This new schedule did not only include reports and resolutions, but also included the following:
First, from a spiritual perspective time was dedicated for worship. A Eucharist was held every morning, and an Evening Prayer every evening, they both included hymns, and meditations. Many clergy and lay people participated in these services, that were organised by the Worship Committee.
Second, on Wednesday, Archbishop Naoum gave a lecture about Leadership and Governance as an introduction to the three workshops; one was for the clergy led by Bishop Naoum, the second was for vestry members led by Adv. Firas Azar, and Adv. Maher Shihadeh, and the last for the Heads of the Institutions led by a team from the Solutions Institute.
Third, there was a noticeable increase in the female participation in this Synod, both as Pastorate Committee representatives, and as heads of institutions.
Fourth, with an invitation from Bishop Naoum, two youth representatives attended the Synod. Bishop Naoum gave a recommendation that two youth representatives be members in the Synod in the future, which was approved.
The Synod also approved the Patronage and Service Committee’s recommendation to perform the needed studies, and arrangements to establish permanent deacons, for both men and women, in the near future.
In the Synod’s last session, elections were held for new members on the Standing Committee, and Financial Committee (the Joint Committee.) At the end of the session Bishop Naoum conveyed the Synod’s greetings to His Majesty King Abdullah II, to the Jordanian Government, and to the hospitable people of Jordan. His Grace also thanked the Synod’s Secretary, members of the Joint Committee, the Advisors, the Clergy, the Heads of Institutions, the Pastorate Committee representatives, the Diocese Offices staff in Jorda, Lebanon, and Jerusalem, the Worship Committee, and all who helped in the preparations for the Synod.
المجمع الكنسي لمطرانية القدس الأسقفية يختتم جلساته لدورة عام 2022 في عمان الأردن يوم الخميس 16/6/2022
استمرّ المجمع الكنسي لمطرانية القدس الأسقفية مجتمعاً في عمان الأردن بجلساته لدورة عام 2022، وقد تميّزت هذه الدورة التي هي الأولى وجاهياً برئاسة رئيس المجمع المطران حسام نعوم، ببرنامج جديد ومختلف، الذي لم يقتصر فقط على تقديم التقارير واتّخاذ القرارات، أولاً: من الناحية الروحية فتمّ تكريس وقتاً خاصاً للعبادة في كل صباح بخدمة الشركة المقدسة وكذلك خدمة صلاة المساء التي شملت التأملات والترانيم، حيث شارك عدد كبير من المرسومين والعلمانيين اذ تمّ توزيع الأدوار مسبقاً من قبل اللجنة الليتورجيّة. ثانياً: في يوم الأربعاء قدم رئيس الأساقفة نعوم محاضرة عن موضوع القيادة والحَوكمة ومفاهيمها كمقدمة لورشات العمل الثلاثة؛ واحدة للرعاة المرسومين قادها المطران وواحدة لأعضاء العمد الراعوية مع المحامي فراس عازر والمحامي ماهر شحادة وواحدة لمدراء المؤسّسات مع فريق من مؤسسة حلول. ثالثاً: كان عدد الحضور النسوي ملفتاً للنظر في هذا الدورة بأعضاء مصوّتين مندوبين عن الرعايا بالإضافة إلى مديرات بعض المؤسسات المجمعية. رابعاً: بدعوة من المطران نعوم، حضر ممثلون عن الشبيبة، وتمّ قبول توصية المطران بأن يكون للشبيبة في المستقبل عضوان في المجمع.
وافق المجمع أيضاً على توصية مجلس التولية والخدمات بوضع دراسات وترتيبات لخدمة الشموسية الدائمة للذكور والإناث (دياكونية) بالمستقبل القريب.
في جلسة المجمع الأخيرة تمّ انتخاب أعضاء العمدة العاملة وأعضاء المجلس المالي. وفي الختام نقل المطران نعوم تحيات خاصة باسم المجمع الكنسي لجلالة الملك عبد الله الثاني حفظه الله وللحكومة الأردنية وللشعب الأردني المضياف. وشكر سيادته أمين السر وأعضاء المجلس المشترك (العاملة والمالية) والمستشارين والرعاة ومدراء المؤسسات والعمد الرعوية وموظّفي المجمع في القدس وعمان ولجنة الليتورجيّات وجميع الذين ساهموا في التحضيرات للمجمع.
