During the Provincial Clergy and Spouses Conference, for the Anglican/ Episcopal Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East, that took place at the Dead Sea, Jordan.
The participants visited historic religious sites on Wednesday April 27th, 2022. There, Bishop Hosam Naoum, the Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, presided over the service of Renewal of Baptismal Vows at the Jordan River (Bethany), at the site where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. Bishop Naoum, accompanied by all present, visited the piece of land that was gifted by His Majesty King Abdullah II to the Anglican Diocese of Jerusalem to build an Anglican Church building near the pilgrimage site of the Baptism of Jesus.
Afterwards the group went up Mt. Nebo and visited the church built on the ruins of the Byzantine Church, where Archbishop Michael Lewis, The Anglican Bishop of Cyprus and the Gulf, and the Primate of the Province, presided over the Eucharist and gave a homily. After the Eucharist the group visited the site and the mosaic, and took a memorial group picture.
It is also worth mentioning that on the previous day, Tuesday, some clergy and spouses visited the historic churches and sites in Madaba.
ضمن برنامج مؤتمر رعاة اقليم القدس والشرق الأوسط وزوجاتهم في البحر الميت الأردني، قام المشاركون بزيارة مواقع دينية أثرية وتاريخية يوم الأربعاء 27 /4 /2022، حيث ترأس رئيس الأساقفة الأنجليكاني في القدس المطران حسام نعوم خدمة تجديد نذور المعمودية في نهر الأردن، المغطس موقع معمودية يسوع على يد يوحنا المعمدان، وتفقّد المطران نعوم بمعيّة الحضور قطعة الأرض التي قدّمها جلالة الملك عبدالله الثّاني المعظّم حفظه الله، لمطرانية القدس لبناء كنيسة انجليكانية أسقفية في المغطس.
كما وتوجّه الجميع إلى جبل نيبو والكنيسة المبنيّة على الآثار البيزنطيّة هناك، حيث ترأس رئيس الأساقفة المطران مايكل لويس، أسقف قبرص والخليج والمترأس للإقليم خدمة الشركة المقدّسة وقدّم تأمّلاً روحيّاً. بعد القداس زاروا الأثارات والفسيفساء وفي ختام الزيارة تمّ التقاط صورة جماعيّة تذكاريّة تحت تذكار الحيّة النحاسيّة.
يُذكر أنّ يوم الثلاثاء الذي سبق، زارت مجموعة من الرعاة وزوجاتهم كنائس مادبا الأثريّة.
