Under the Patronage of Archbishop Hosam Naoum the Arab Episcopal School in Irbid, in the North of Jordan, inaugurated the new High School building on Saturday Morning, November 13, 2021. In the presence of Rev’d Canon Samir Esaied, the General Director of the school and the Rector of St. Mary’s Church, Rev’d Deacon Jameel Maher Khader, Dr. Husein Khasawneh, Director of Special Education at the Ministry of Education, Dr. Kasim Hmadneh, the Administrative Director at the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Sabah Zreikat, the head of the school, members of the board of directors, and administrative and academic faculties. At the beginning the assembly stood for the National Anthem, then the Archbishop led a special prayer to bless and inaugurate the new building. Bishop Naoum extended his warmest greetings to His Majesty King Abdullah II, and thanked him for safeguarding both Islamic and Christian Holy Places in Jerusalem, and praised His Majesty for his role in spreading the culture of peace in the region. Bishop Naoum thanked the school’s administration, the board of directors, the Ministry of Education, and all those working especially on the student integration program. He said: “this ministry is a source of hope for all people in this region since it provides equal opportunities to all. Any institution that gives people opportunities to build themselves, has built the entire world.”
It is worth mentioning that the school serves students who are partially or completely blind, and integrates them in classrooms with other students. Therefore, the opening of the two new floors to expand the high school to include eleventh and twelfth grades was happily welcomed by the community. Bishop and Mrs. Naoum took a tour in the classes of the school, where they met with the students and faculty, and Mrs. Rafa Naoum also visited the Arab Episcopal Kindergarten. Finally, they visited St. Mary’s Church, where they had a a short prayer service.

افتتحت المدرسة الأسقفية العربية في مدينة اربد شمال الأردن، مبنى المرحلة الثانوية الجديد تحت رعاية رئيس الأساقفة الأنچليكاني في القدس المطران حسام نعوم صباح يوم السبت 13/11/2021، بحضور المدير العام وراعي كنيسة القديسة العذراء مريم القس الكنن سمير اسعيد والشماس جميل ماهر خضر ومن وزارة التربية والتعليم مدير التعليم الخاص الدكتور حسين خصاونة والمدير الفني والإداري الدكتور قسيم حمادنة، ومديرة المدرسة السيدة صباح زريقات وأعضاء مجلس الإدارة وطواقم المدرسة الإدارية والتدريسية. بدايةً وقف الجميع احتراماً للسلام الملكي الأردني وقاد رئيس الأساقفة صلاة خاصة لمباركة وتدشين المبنى الجديد. ورفع المطران نعوم أسمى التحيات لجلالة الملك عبد الله الثاني المعظم حفظه الله، وآيات الشكر على دفاعه عن المقدسات الإسلامية والمسيحية في القدس، وأشاد بدور جلالته بنشر ثقافة السلام والتآخي في المنطقة. وشكر المطران ادارة المدرسة ومجلس الإدارة ووزارة التربية والتعليم وكل القائمين خاصة على برنامج دمج الطلاب، قائلاً: “هذه الخدمة هي أمل لكل أهلنا في هذه المنطقة فهي تعطي فرص متساوية ومتكافئة للجميع. لأنّ المؤسسة التي تبني أشخاصاً ليَصلوا إلى هذا المقام، فهي تبني العالم كلّه”
يُذكر أنّ المدرسة تخدم الطلاب ذوي البصر الضعيف والمكفوفين وتتميّز في دمجهم مع الطلاب الآخرين، فجاء بناء الطابقين الجديدين بهدف توسيع المدرسة الثانوية وفتح صفي الحادي عشر والثاني عشر – التوجيهي. كما وقام المطران وعقيلته رفاء بجولة في صفوف المدرسة ولقاء الطلاب والهيئة التدريسية، وبدورها زارت السيدة نعوم الروضة الأسقفية العربية، وفي الختام قاموا بزيارة وصلاة قصيرة في كنيسة العذراء مريم.
