Archbishop Hosam Naoum visits the Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza.

Archbishop Hosam Naoum, the Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, visited the Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza on Thursday November 4th, 2021. There to welcome him were Ms. Suhaila Tarazi, the Director of the hospital, Dr. Maher Ayyad, the Medical Director of the hospital, the administrative staff, doctors, nurses, and a delegation from the staff of the hospital. In his greeting words, Bishop Naoum conveyed to them warm greeting from Jerusalem, and expressed how happy he is to visit. He said: “for us Gaza is a source of hope, steadfastness, and giving, and the Ahli Arab Hospital is a beacon of hope, as well as a beacon of medicine and recovery.” He also thanked those in attendance for their resilience, and love, and encouraged them to continue in their unique ministry. In this visit Bishop Naoum inaugurated the Outpatient Clinics, that has different specialities to cover the needs of the people in Gaza.

Bishop Naoum took a tour in the different departments of the hospital to check on the ministry in them. In his tour he visited some of the patients, talked to them, and prayed for them and their recovery. At St. Philip’s Chapel, in the hospital, Bishop Naoum officiated a short prayer service with some staff and local priests and nuns present.

Bishop Naoum met with Ms. Tarazi to check on the ministry and work of the hospital. In their meeting they discussed future plans and projects.

This was Bishop Naoum’s first visit to Gaza after his installation. On this trip he was accompanied by his Chaplain Rev’d Canon Don Binder. In this trip Bishop Naoum arranged for another future trip to Gaza, in which he will not only visit the hospital, but he will visit the rest of Gaza as well.
