Archbishop Hosam Naoum, the Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, presided over a Eucharistic service celebrating Thanksgiving (Harvest) Sunday, at St. George the Martyr’s Cathedral in Jerusalem, on Sunday morning October 3rd,2021. As did all the parishes of the Diocese of Jerusalem, according to the Diocese custom, to celebrate it on the first Sunday of October. In his sermon, Bishop Naoum highlited the virtue of thanksgiving. Explaining the different ways and forms of giving. Emphasising that when we give to others or to the church, we must give abundantly, give with a happy heart, and give despite our own need. Bishop Naoum explained: “Giving is a principal virtue to living under God’s shadow, who is love and giving.” He also said: “if selfishness and narcissism are the source of all evil , then giving, sacrifice, and dedication are the antidote and cure.”

“Train yourself, and your household to give thanks, so that you will be blessed from above.”

رئيس الأساقفة حسام نعوم يحتفل بأحد الشكر في كاتدرائيته في القدس يوم الأحد ٠٣/ ١٠/ ٢٠٢١

ترأس رئيس الأساقفة الأنچليكاني في القدس المطران حسام نعوم خدمة الشركة المقدسة في كاتدرائية القديس جورج في القدس صباح يوم الأحد ٠٣/ ١٠/ ٢٠٢١ بمناسبة أحد الشكر السنوي، كما احتفلت جميع رعايا مطرانية القدس حسب عادتها وتقليدها، في الأحد الأول من شهر تشرين أول من كل عام. وفي عظته قدّم المطران نعوم تفسيراً عن فضيلة الشكر حيث ركّز على مبدأ العطاء ودرجاته وأنواعه، كالعطاء بسخاء والعطاء من القلب ومن أفضل ما عندنا وحتى من اعوازنا. وقال: “إنّ العطاء هو مبدأ أساسي للعيش في ظل الله، الذي هو محبة وعطاء.”

وقال أيضاً: “إن كانت الأنانية والنرجسية هي سبب كل شر، فالعطاء والبذل والتضحية هم الترياق والعلاج.”

“درّب نفسك وأهل بيتك على العطاء، لتنعم بالبركات الإلهية.”
