Archbishop Hosam Naoum, the Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, presided over a celebratory Eucharist at the Redeemer Church in Amman, to celebrate Thanksgiving (Harvest) Sunday and Confirm by the Laying of Hands thirty young adults on Sunday Evening October 3rd, 2021. Rev’d Canon Faeq Haddad, the Rector of the parish, a group of Diocesan Clergy, families of the confirmands, and many parishioners attended the service.
Bishop Naoum said in his sermon: “This evening, on Thanksgiving Sunday, we gather to offer our thanks to God for God’s blessings, mercies and guidance.”
“Today, we especially thank God for our daughters and sons who received the Sacrament of Confirmation, and received by the Laying of Hands the gifts of the Holy Spirit, so that they may continue to follow Christ forever. I pray that God may guard them so that they can grow in wisdom, stature and favour with God and people.”
Bishop Naoum saw fitting to concentrate on the meaning of giving in the Christian Faith. Emphasising that the meaning of giving thanks is through giving, taking Jesus salvific work on the cross as the best example, since it was the greatest offering and sacrifice. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. (John 3.16, NRSV)”
On behalf of the Majma, the clergy, and all the parishes, Bishop Naoum greeted HRH King Abdullah II of Jordan, thanking him for his continued support. Then Bishop Naoum expressed how happy he and his wife, Rafa, are to celebrate Thanksgiving Sunday in Amman, after they have celebrated it in Jerusalem that same morning.
Canon Haddad, the rector of the parish, welcomed Archbishop Naoum, Mrs. Naoum, and the clergy present. Then he presented Bishop Naoum with a gift on the occasion of his installation, on behalf of the vestry and the parish, which was a mosaic masterpiece, of a map showing all the areas of the Diocese, with the names of the cities where the Diocese has parishes in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Historic Palestine.
Bishop Naoum congratulated the confirmands, their families, godparents, Rector, and parish. He also congratulated Rev’d Deacon Jamel Khader, who was ordained on St. Matthew’s day.
It is also worthy to mention that some confirmands are from St. Paul’s Parish – Ashrafieh Amman, the Good Shepherd Church – Salt, and St. Andrew’s Parish – Ramallah.

رئيس الأساقفة حسام نعوم يحتفل بأحد الشكر مع رعية الفادي في عمان ويمنح التثبيت يوم الأحد ٠٣/ ١٠/ ٢٠٢١
ترأس رئيس الأساقفة الأنچليكاني في القدس المطران حسام نعوم خدمة الشركة المقدسة الإحتفالية في كنيسة الفادي على جبل عمان، محتفلاً باحد الشكر السنوي ومانحاً سر التثبيت بوضع الأيدي على ثلاثين شاباً وشابةً، بحضور كاهن الرعية القس الكنن فائق حداد ولفيف من رعاة المطرانية وجمع غفير من أبناء الرعية والأقارب، مساء يوم الأحد ٠٣/ ١٠/ ٢٠٢١.
قال المطران نعوم في عظته: “نجتمع في هذا المساء كعائلة واحدة لكي نشكر الله على نعمه وعطاياه وبركاته ومراحمه وعنايته، في أحد الشكر السنوي.”
“اليوم نشكر الله أيضاً بشكل خاص من أجل أبنائنا وبناتنا المثبتين الذين نالوا بوضع الأيدي مواهب الروح القدس ونعمة الله من الأعالي، لكي يستمروا للمسيح إلى الأبد، ولكي يحرس الرّب الإله هؤلاء الشباب والشابات حتى ينموا في الحكمة والقامة والنعمة عند الله وعند الناس.”
ارتأَى سيادة المطران نعوم أن يقدّم في عظته تأمّلاً عن فضائل الشكر، وبالتحديد سلّط الضوء على معنى ومفهوم العطاء في الايمان المسيحي، وماذا يعني أن نشكر الله من خلال العطاء، مستنداً على عمل المسيح الخلاصي على الصليب حيث كانت ذبيحة الشكر العظيمة، “لِأَنَّهُ هَكَذَا أَحَبَّ ٱللهُ ٱلْعَالَمَ حَتَّى بَذَلَ ٱبْنَهُ ٱلْوَحِيدَ، لِكَيْ لَا يَهْلِكَ كُلُّ مَنْ يُؤْمِنُ بِهِ، بَلْ تَكُونُ لَهُ ٱلْحَيَاةُ ٱلْأَبَدِيَّةُ. (يوحنا 3:16)”
وجّه المطران نعوم تحية تقدير وإجلال خاصة باسم المجمع الكنسي وجميع الرعايا والمؤسسات لجلالة الملك عبد الّله الثاني حفظه الله. وأعرب عن سعادته هو وعقيلته السيدة رفاء بالاحتفال بالتثبيت في أحد الشكر في العاصمة الأردنية عمان بعد أن احتفل صباحاً في القدس.
وبدوره رحّب راعي الكنيسة الكنن حداد برئيس الأساقفة والسيدة نعوم وبجميع الرعاة الحاضرين، وقدم للمطران باسم عمدة وراعوية كنيسة الفادي هدية تذكارية مميزة بمناسبة تنصيبه، عبارة عن لوحة فسيفساء لخارطة أقطار المطرانية مع اسم كل
بلدة تخدم فيها رعايا المطرانية في الاردن وسوريا ولبنان وفلسطين التاريخية.
هنأ المطران نعوم المثبتين والأهل والأشابين والراعي والرعية، كما وهنأ الشماس جميل ماهر خضر بمناسبة رسامته شماساً في عيد القديس متى.
يُذكر أن بعض المثبتين هم أيضا من رعايا مار بولس – الأشرفية عمان، الراعي الصالح – السلط، مار اندراوس – رام الله.
