Rev’d Emad Daibes, the rector of the Saviour’s Episcopal Church in Acre, welcomed Archbishop Hosam Naoum, the Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, and his wife Rafa and their family at the Acre Episcopal Church on Sunday Evening September 26th, 2021, on his first Episcopal visit to the city after his installation. Archimandrite Philitios, the rector of the Greek Orthodox Church, and Fr. Tawfeeq Bu Mirie, the rector of the Roman Catholic Church, a group of Diocesan Clergy, and members of the parish in Acre, and different Anglican Parishes were present as well.
The reception commenced with a welcome by Rev’d Daibes, in which he highlighted the activities of the parish, such as Sunday School and ladies groups, in addition to the Sunday services, emphasising how delight the parish is to welcome Bishop Naoum. Then he presented Bishop Naoum with a portrait of the Good Shepherd, saying: “we present you with a portrait of the Good Shepherd since that is what you represent to us.” Archimandrite Philitios gave a speech on behalf of the clergy of Acre, and gifted Bishop Naoum a cross. Bishop Naoum thanked Rev’d Daibes, the clergy and the parish for their welcome, and said: “The Diocese is keen to reopen the churches that have been abandoned. After having reopened St. Paul’s Church in Jerusalem, and The Saviour’s Church in Acre, we will soon commence the renovation at St. Peter’s Church in Jaffa.” Bishop Naoum thanked Rev’d Daibes for his ministry in Acre, and his dedication for the city, and reminded all in attendance that our church in Acre is there to serve all the Christians in the City.
Bishop Naoum also celebrated the Eucharist joined by the Diocesan clergy. In his sermon, Bishop Naoum thanked all in attendance saying: “by being present tonight, you have become the Salt in this City and this Church, we gather today to reaffirm our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, who calls us to be Salt and Light in this world. And with the rededication of this Church, it became an added Salt to that already present.” “I pray today, in this ancient city, is that our Christian presence should be strong just like the Walls of Acre. Amen.”
This visit was part of Archbishop Naoum’s official visits to the parishes and institutions of the Diocese.

استقبل القس عماد دعيبس راعي كنيسة المخلص الأنچليكانية الأسقفية في عكا رئيس الأساقفة الأنچليكاني في القدس المطران حسام نعوم وعقيلته السيدة رفاء والعائلة في كنيسة عكا مساء الأحد ٢٦/ ٠٩/ ٢٠٢١، بمناسبة الزيارة الأولى بعد تنصيبه، بحضور الأرشمندريت فيليتيوس راعي كنيسة الروم الأرثوذكس والأب توفيق بو مرعي الفرنسيسكاني راعي كنيسة اللاتين ولفيف من رعاة المطرانية في القدس والجليل، وجمع من عكا ومن بعض رعايا الجليل.
بدأ الاستقبال بكلمة ترحيبية من القس عماد دعيبس، أعرب فيها عن فرحه والرعية بزيارة المطران التي تعادل الاحتفال بإعادة تكريس الكنيسة، عرض القس دعيبس البرامج والنشاطات التي تقوم بها الكنيسة بالإضافة إلى الخدمات الأحدية، مثل مدرسة الأحد والسيدات، وفي ختام كلمته قدم راعي الكنيسة هدية للمطران عبارة عن لوحة الراعي الصالح، قائلاً له “نهديك لوحة الراعي الصالح لأنك هذا ما تمثله لنا”. وكانت للأرشمندريت فيليتيوس كلمة باسم جميع كهنة عكا وقدم هدية صليب للمطران. وفي كلمته شكر المطران نعوم القس دعيبس والكهنة والرعية على الاستقبال الذي اعتاد عليه في زياراته السابقة. وقال: “المطرانية حريصة على إعادة فتح الكنائس المهجورة، فبعد كنيسة مار بولس في القدس وكنيسة المخلص في عكا، سنبدأ قريباً في ترميم كنيسة مار بطرس في يافا” كرّر شُكره للقس عماد دعيبس على محبته لهذا المكان وذكّر الجميع أن الكنيسة في عكا هي لخدمة جميع المسيحيين في البلد.
هذا وترأس المطران نعوم خدمة الشركة المقدسة بمشاركة رعاة المطرانية الحاضرين. وفي عظته الروحية شكر المطران الجميع من جديد قائلاً: “بحضوركم أصبحتم ملح الأرض في هذه المدينة وهذه الكنيسة، نأتي اليوم لنجدد إيماننا بالرب يسوع الذي يدعونا كي نكون ملح الأرض ونور هذا العالم. مع إعادة تكريس وفتح أبواب هذه الكنيسة هي بمثابة ملح آخر يُضاف للملح الموجود”.
“وصلاتي اليوم في هذا البلد القديم والعريق: وجودنا المسيحي يجب أن يبقى قوياً مثل أسوار عكا. آمين”
كانت هذه ضمن زيارات رئيس الأساقفة الرسمية والراعوية لرعايا ومؤسسات الأبرشية.
