During their recent brief visit to the UK, the Archbishop and Mrs Dawani visited Southwark Cathedral and hosted a lunch by kind permission of the Dean of Southwark, The Very Reverend Andrew Nunn and through the generosity of the Bishop of Southwark, The Right Reverend Christopher Chessum.

They lunched with some friends and supporters of the Diocese, including Peter Rand, vice-chair of the Friends of the Holy Land, John and Jenny Clark (John Clark is vice-chair of Jerusalem and Middle East Church Association (JMECA), the Bishop of Kingston, the Right Reverend Dr. Richard Cheetham (committee member of St George’s College) and Mrs. Cheetham, Sir Vincent Lady Fean (Sir Vincent was the UK’s Consul-General in Jerusalem from 2012-2015) and Nassar Nassar.

The Archbishop also met with Archbishop Justin at Lambeth Palace and joined Evening Prayer at the Palace with members of St Anselm’s Community, Chemin Neuf and the Right Reverend Graham kings. On Sunday, 24th July 2016, The Archbishop presided and preached at the Convent of the Incarnation, Fairacres, Oxford and afterwards met Mother Clare-Louise SLG and other members of the community of the Sisters of the Love of God. Also present was the Reverend Canon Hugh Wybrew (Dean of St George’s Cathedral, Jerusalem, 1986-1989 and a Director of JMECA).

On Monday 25th the Archbishop, accompanied by his chaplain Canon David Longe, visited the Church Mission Society, Oxford and met members of the organization, including the Executive Leader, Reverend Canon Philip Mounstephen and the Director for CMS in the Middle East Tanas al Qassis. Canon Longe is a Mission Partner with the Church Mission Society.
