The Archbishop is delighted to announce that the Reverend Dr Khaled Freij has been appointed the Director of Theodore Schneller School. The Archbishop, following the meeting of TSS Board in Amman on 19th June, announced this appointment to the staff of TSS on 20th June. Reverend Freij commences as the full time Director from 1st July 2016. Please hold all at TSS, Reverend Khaled and his family, in your prayers as he commences this new ministry in the diocese.
On Friday, 17th June 2016, women from across the region (Palestine, Jerusalem and Israel) gathered at Jenin. The Archbishop led a Bible Study; there was worship and lunch; and a visit to Burqin Church (cf.Luke 17.11-19).
The Archbishop attended the Graduation Ceremony at St. John’s School in Haifa
On Wednesday 15 June Archbishop Suheil Dawani hosted a Ramadan Iftar for Muslim and Christian leaders in the Bishop’s Peace Garden at St George's, also attended by Patriarch Theophilos III, Bishop Wiliam Shomali, Director General of Islamic Waqf in Jerusalem Sheikh Azzam Khatib and Adnan Al-Husseini the Palestinian Governor of Jerusalem.
Archbishop Suheil Dawani attended the board meeting for Ahliyya and Bishop School, Jordan.
On 12 June 2016 the Archbishop preached and presided at a service at St John the Baptist’s church, Husan, Jordan; he also met the Pastoral Committee and visited the new kindergarten at Husan.
On 6th June, the Archbishop met the chairman of Friends of the Holy Land, Jim Quinn and Vicky Urch.
The Archbishop attended the Graduation Ceremony at Christ’s School, Nazareth
On 3rd June, The Archbishop met representatives from the Kennington (London)/Bethlehem Group, Mike Rebiero and The Reverend Canon Angus Aagaard.
Her Royal Highness Princess Basma Bint Talal, the Archbishop and School Director, Haifa Najjar presented the 77th graduation class of Ahliyyah School for Girls and The Bishop’s School for Boys with their school certificates. During the ceremony the Archbishop spoke on the importance of Inter-faith relationships. Some of the graduates reflected, movingly, on their time at the schools, and also sang.
The Archbishop attended the Theodor Schneller School (TSS), along with the Reverend Dr Khaled Freij, interim Director, celebrated the graduation of its 48th class of students.
The Archbishop attended the Graduation Ceremony at the Arab Episcopal School in Irbid, with the Reverend Samir Esaid and director Mrs Sabah Zurikat.
Archbishop Suheil Dawani conducted two Confirmation Services at the Church of the Redeemer in Amman, one for the English Speaking Congregation and one for the Arabic speaking congregation. The Reverend Canon Faeq Haddad, The Reverend Deacon Fares Naoum and the Reverend Malcolm Forrest, also attended.
The Archbishop met with Sharon Regev, Director, Department for World Religions, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Israel.
The Archbishop welcomed The Right Reverend Andrew Dietsche, Bishop of New York, and pilgrims from the Diocese of New York.
On 25th May 2016, Archbishop Suheil visited The Jofeh Community Rehabilitation Centre, Jordan Valley. Here he met with staff, including the manager, Yousef Rizik , and children. The Centre provides services for people with sensory, physical and intellectual impairments and works towards their fuller integration and participation into their local communities. The Archbishop met one child who had just been fitted with prosthetic limbs. He was also presented with a stole woven by the women who meet at the centre.
The Archbishop attended the graduation ceremony at Saviour Arab Evangelical Episcopal School, Zarka, along with the Reverend Dr Khalid Freij, Mr Ibrahim Faltas, and Mrs. Duaa Bisharat (the school director). The school provides education for underprivileged children, including those who are blind.
Archbishop Suheil Dawani attended the graduation ceremony at the Christian National Kindergarten, Nablus.
Archbishop Suheil Dawani visited St.Luke’s Hospital in Nablus. While he was there the Archbishop met the staff of the hospital and 30 journalists from Asdaa’ Press. The Journalists were attending a conference about the work of he hospital.
