Archbishop Hosam Naoum made his first Episcopal visit to St. Luke’s Church in Marka, Amman – Jordan.

Bishop Hossam Naoum, the Anglican Archbishop of Jerusalem, presided over the Eucharist at St. Luke’s Church in Marka in East Amman on the Second Sunday of Easter, according to the Eastern calendar as observed by the churches in Jordan. The service took place yesterday, Sunday, April 23, 2023, which coincided with the commemoration of the Feast of St. George. Rev’d George Kopti, the parish priest, assisted the Archbishop in the service, and welcomed Archbishop Naoum and with members of the vestry presented him with a commemorative gift. The service was also attended by Rev’d Canon Wadie Far and members of the parish.

Archbishop Naoum expressed his joy at making his first pastoral visit to the parish in Marka, which had been awaited by the parish since his installation, as well as after the new priest assumed his pastoral duties. He thanked the congregation and encouraged them to continue their commitment to their parish. He also thanked Rev’d Kopti for his new ministry in Marka and for all the ministries he oversees in the Diocesan Synod.

The Archbishop’s sermon focused on the appearance of the risen Christ to the disciples in the presence of Thomas, whose doubt turned into a great statement of faith, “My Lord and my God.” He also gave an introduction to the theme “built together” of the Diocesan Synod on the eve of its convening.

After the service, the parish held a reception in honor of Archbishop and Mrs. Naoum.
