His Grace Bishop Hosam Naoum, the Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, hosted a meeting for the Church Mission Society (CMS), represented by Mr. Tanas Alqassis, the CMS regional manager for Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, and Rev’d Canon Andy Bowerman, a trustee of the CMS, on Monday January 9th, 2023 in Amman, Jordan. His Grace Bishop Sami Fawzi, the Primate of the Anglican Province of Alexandria, and Mr. Joel Kelling, Provincial Administrator for the Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East, attended the meeting. In the meeting, they discussed the restructuring of CMS in the Middle East and North Africa. They also talked about the future plans of both Provinces in connection with the CMS.
The need for creating a hub for CMS in the Middle East to support the ministry of the Anglican Church in the region was discussed.
It is worth mentioning that CMS had a major role in establishing the Anglican ministry in the Middle East, and especially the Diocese of Jerusalem, through sending missionaries and establishing parishes and health and educational institutions.
استضاف غبطة رئيس الأساقفة الأنچليكاني في القدس المطران حسام نعوم اجتماعاً مع جمعية الإرساليّة الكنسيّة CMS ممثّلة بمديرها الإقليمي في أوروبا والشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا السيد طناس القسيس والقس اندي باورمان عضو مجلس أمناء الجمعيّة، بحضور غبطة رئيس أساقفة إقليم الإسكندريّة سامي فوزي والسيد جول كيلنچ الإداري في إقليم القدس والشرق الأوسط للكنيسة الأسقفية/الأنچليكانية، وذلك يوم الإثنين 9/1/2023 في عمّان الأردن. حيث بحثوا في آليّة إعادة هيكليّة جمعيّة ال CMS في منطقة الشّرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا، وقد تمّ استعراض الخطّة المستقبليّة لمطرانيّة القدس وإقليم الإسكندريّة والتوافق بينهما في الشّراكة مع ال CMS.
كما وناقشوا الحاجة إلى تأسيس مركز للجمعيّة في الشّرق الأوسط لدعم خدمة الكنيسة الأنچليكانيّة الأسقفيّة في المنطقة.
يُذكر أنّ جمعيّة الإرساليّة الكنسيّة CMS لها الحصّة والمساهمة الأكبر في تأسيس الخدمة والإرساليّة الأنچليكانيّة في الشّرق الأوسط ولا سيّما أبرشية القدس من خلال فرز المُرسلين وبناء الكنائس والمؤسّسات الطبيّة والتّربويّة.
