His Grace Archbishop Dr. Hosam Naoum, the Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, pays a private visit to his Excellency Michel Aoun, the Lebanese President, at Baabda Palace, leading a delegation from the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem of the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East, on Friday December 3rd, 2021. The delegation consisted of: Mrs. Rafa Qafiti Naoum, Archdeacon Imad Zorob, the Rector of All Saints Church- Beirut and the General Director of the Saint Luke Centre for people with disabilities- Beit Mirie, Rev’d Canon Don Binder, the Archbishop’s Chaplain, and Rev’d Canon Fuad Dagher, the Rector of St. Paul’s Church- Shefa-Amr in the Galilee and the Canon of reconciliation at St. George the Martyr’s Cathedral- Jerusalem. Rev’d Edgar Traboulsi, a Deputy in the Lebanese Parliament, accompanied the Episcopal delegation, and in the meeting he spoke about the role of the Episcopal Church in supporting the Evangelical witness and the Arabic Christian presence in the Holy Land and the Middle East.
Bishop Naoum covered greetings from the Diocesan clergy, parishes, and institutions to His Excellency President Aoun, and through him to the Lebanese people. Greetings from the city of the Resurrection, Jerusalem, and the city of Bethlehem, where Jesus was born. He also conveyed greetings from His Grace Dr. Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury and the head of the Anglican Church in the world, conveying his sympathy for the situation Lebanon is going through, and his will to visit Lebanon at the earliest opportunity to support the people of Lebanon and the Episcopal Church and the Evangelical Family in its different fields of ministry: pastoral, educational, and humanitarian. Bishop Naoum also congratulated his Excellency on the anniversary of Lebanon’s 78th independence day, wishing that Lebanon will regain its wellbeing. Bishop Naoum also offered his condolences for all the Lebanese Martyrs especially those lost in the Harbour Explosion, praying for full recovery for all who were injured.
His Grace presented his Excellency with a gift brought especially from Bethlehem for this Christmas Season, which was made by the hands of people from Bethlehem for the President, to express his Grace’s love and continued prayers for Lebanon the land of the Saints.
قام نيافة رئيس الأساقفة الأنچليكاني في القدس المطران الدكتور حسام نعوم بزيارة خاصة لفخامة رئيس الجمهورية اللبنانية العماد ميشال عون في قصر بعبدا، على رأس وفد رفيع المستوى من مطرانية القدس للكنيسة الاسقفية في القدس والشرق الاوسط؛ السيدة رفاء قفعيتي نعوم والارشديكون عماد زعرب راعي كنيسة جميع القديسين في بيروت ومدير مركز القديس لوقا لذوي الاحتياجات الخاصه في بيت مري والقس الكَنَن دون بِنْدِر مرافق المطران نعوم والقس الكنن فؤاد داغر، راعي كنيسة القديس بولس في مدينة شفاعمرو الجليلية والكنن على كرسي المُصالحة في كاثدرائية القديس جورج الشهيد في القدس، وكان برفقة الوفد الانجليكاني النائب القس ادكار طرابلسي الذي نوّه بدور الكنيسة الانجليكانية في دعم الشهادة الانجيلية والوجود المسيحي العربي في الاراضي المقدسة والشرق الاوسط.
ونقل المطران نعوم تحيات الرعاة والرعايا والمؤسسات من مطرانية القدس لفخامة الرئيس العماد ميشال عون، ومن خلاله إلى كل الشعب اللبناني، تحيات مدينة القيامة القدس ومدينة بيت لحم، مهد وميلاد السيد المسيح له المجد. ونقل اليه اهتمام رئيس أساقفة كانتربري، رئيس الكنيسة الانجليكانية في العالم، المطران الدكتور جاستن ويلبي، بلبنان في محنته التي يمرّ فيها، ورغبته بزيارته بوقت قريب للتضامن مع شعبه ولمساندة عمل الكنيسة الاسقفية والطائفة الانجيلية في الحقول الروحية والتربوية والانسانية المختلفة. كما وهنّأ المطران نعوم الرئيس عون بمناسبة عيد استقلال لبنان الثماني والسبعين، متمنّياً من قلبه أن يعود لبنان إلى عافيته ومجده. وقدّم له التعازي بجميع ضحايا وشهداء لبنان خاصة ضحايا مرفأ بيروت داعياً بالشفاء التام للجرحى والمصابين.
وقدّم نيافته لفخامته هديّة أحضرها خصيصاً من بيت لحم بمناسبة موسم الميلاد، مصنوعة بأيادي أهل بيت لحم لشخص فخامة الرئيس تعبيراً عن محبته وصلاته من أجل لبنان أرض القديسين والقداسة.
