All Saint’s Episcopal Church, Beirut was delighted to receive Archbishop Suheil over the weekend of Sunday 10 April 2016. He was accompanied by his wife Shafeeqa who leads the Diocesan Women’s Ministry, the Revd. Canon Victor Diab, his wife Leila and the Revd. Fouad Dagher from St. Paul’s Church, Shefa’amr.
Archbishop Suheil’s visit was especially important as travelling with him was a delegation of women from across the Diocese, for the first ever Diocesan Episcopal Women’s Conference in Lebanon. This event was led by Mrs. Hind Zoorob and Mrs. Amy Roche, and was attended by 40 ladies from both the Arabic and the English-Speaking Congregations. The conference theme centred on empowering women’s work in the church and in voluntary work.
Archbishop Suheil visited All Saints’ Episcopal Church on the third Sunday of Easter and presided at the Eucharist with Revd. Imad Zoorob the Rector of All Saints’ and the Revd. Deacon David Roche. During the service, Archbishop Suheil confirmed two young congregants, Bethany Nasrallah and Grace Roche in their faith. Archbishop Suheil also announced that he plans to ordain the Revd. David Roche, a CMS Mission Partner, as a priest during his next visit to Lebanon in November 2016. After the service, a celebration was held and Archbishop Suheil was invited to cut a cake, which had been prepared by the two congregations of the newly confirmed.
During his visit to Lebanon, Archbishop Suheil together with delegates from the Women’s Conference, visited St. Luke’s Centre for Children with Special Needs. They met with the Reverend Zoorob, who oversees the Centre and the staff. The children were able to enjoy the visit by showing their guests what they had been learning in class, and by singing and dancing, which was led by the Revd. Fouad!
