The Equalizer Football project

On the final day of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s visit to the Diocese of Jerusalem, he and his delegation began the day learning about the work of the Equalizer Football project from it’s founder Liran Gerassi. The project seeks to be inclusive, with participants drawn from Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities, both native born and recently arrived immigrants. Participants and volunteers play and coach football together as well as devoting an equal amount of time to study. Archbishop Justin and Dean Hosam Naoum donned purple Lambeth Palace shirts and played with the students present, and despite a significant height advantage, were held to a 0-0 draw.
